Abstract
Febrile seizure is the most common type of seizure in children, and approximately 31-51 percent of children who have a febrile seizure have a recurrence. We reviewed 145 children with febrile seizure after initial attack. Seventy-three(50.3%)
children
had a recurrence with a subsequent febrile illness. The recurrence rate was high who had frequent febrile seizures. Most recurrence of febrile seizures occured within a year after initial febrile seizure and all recurrent febrile seizures occured
within
3 years after initial febrile seizure. The age of less than 12 months were associated with an increased risk of recurrence(65.2%) and the family history of febrile seizure also increased recurrence rate. The sex, duration and height of fever,
complex
seizure, EEG and neurologic abnormalities did not increase the risk of recurrent febrile seizures.
